23.Krashen…Refreshingly Comprehensible

 The Regional English Language Office, New Delhi, organized a webinar  entitled

The Comprehension Hypothesis-45 Years  Later by Prof.Stephen Krashen  on Facebook Live   on  Nov.23,2020.  

It was ‘refreshingly comprehensible’  for  the participants  of  the Webinar...at   a   time  the  pandemic has   affected   ESL   teaching  and  learning   across the world….

Here are a   few  tips  from the   talk,   useful   for  teaching  ESL:

 *We  acquire  language only if we understand it…

 *The  ability to  produce  language is the result of  getting comprehensible  input.

 *The input should be …COMPREHENSIBLE…COMPELLING….RICH  &  ABUNDANT  

 *Self selected  pleasure reading is good for vocabulary.

 * More  writing will not help  acquire  language any quicker.

 *The better  the education  in the  first language..the  faster  one will  acquire  another language…
